DEAR DALE: Advice Column

I have a co-worker who acts like he’s the boss. He’s not. It really bugs me but I really need this job. Our boss really likes him which doesn’t help.

Ah, the good old “fake boss” co-worker. They’re like the mosquitoes of the office, buzzing around and making annoying sounds while sucking the life out of everyone. But fear not, my friend! I have just the solution for you.

First, try to beat your co-worker at their own game. Walk around with a clipboard and a stern expression, and start bossing people around. Use fancy jargon like “synergy” and “maximizing productivity” to really sell it. If your co-worker tries to out-boss you, one-up them by wearing a suit to work every day.

If that doesn’t work, try becoming friends with the fake boss. It’s harder to boss around a friend, right? Plus, you might learn some valuable fake boss skills that you can use to your advantage.

If all else fails, just remember that at the end of the day, you’re the boss of your own life. Treat yourself to a nice lunch or take a walk outside and enjoy some fresh air. Who needs a fake boss when you have your own bossitude?
